Default What is a good Necro build for the Fire Islands?

I've been playing the game for 7 months and finally got around to do the Fire Islands with my small group of friends who I play the game with. At this time I'm using a MM with the Flesh Golem but from what I hear a MM isn't effective there because of the high level creatures rip through the minions. I don't know if that is true but if so what is a good build for the Necromancer on the Fire Islands? One that doesn't require much effort too..I'm lazy at this game since it is a RPG . As a other n00b question can I have a Flesh Golem out at the same time as a Ally does?

have you unlocked Spiteful Spirit? you ought to if not....

i'm sure two mm's can both have golems goin at once but two mm's is kind of a no no. not enough bodies. you'll be stepping on each other's toes.

what's your secondary?

A Blood Spike build is nice, armor ignoring damage is awesome in that area. There's a post about it on the first page (Kd's).

Two MM's isn't a "no no"
It all depends on the area and when there are at least 15 flesh golems and around 10 hydras right outside the gate there are more than enough bodies.
SS is good really good because the flesh golems come in big groups and are tight together taking SS every time its very good.
Blood spike.....weak with one person....I think the only reason it worked in pvp is the armor resistence and you can have enough spikers to steall all health at once.

The only bad thing about having two MMs is the big sacrifices from BotM

First, congrats on making it to Fire Island.

Perdition Rock - outside of Ember light camp - facing Mantels, Ogres (or giants, whatever they want to be called), Hydras, Flesh Golems, Spiders, Drakes, those floating octopus guys, and Wind Riders.

Hydras will decimate your minions with Meteor Storm. Flesh Golems summon minions and use Death Nova. Spiders will cast Soul Leech. Drakes cast Mark of Rodgort.

Basically, its good to have a MM here. Just tread carefully.

Ring of Fire - First City Mission
Fewer corpses, but not that dangerous to minions (except from the spellcasters and Jade Amor)

Abaddon's Mouth - Second City Mission
Lava is harsh on Minions.

Hells Precipice - Flesh Golem is fine, but I don't think MMs really are that great here. Have a battery and/or SS. You will have great success here with them.

Good luck and have fun.

Bull$%#, I've been bloodspiking for a long time. Bloodspike is awesome against high armored units, which is exactly what the titans and jade armors are. Also works well against Mursaat Bosses that take virtually no damage from other sources. Which is the exact reason why SS works at all. But because SS is dependand on the cluttering of groups you oppose, it really isnt that amazing as you're only fighting 3-4 mursaats at the same time, even more so, the hardest part of those missions the mursaat bosses, are resistant against these hexes.

Blood/Curses definately....Bloodspike is great here.

You don't want to run minions anywhere in Fire Islands for three reasons at least:

1) Lots of enemies with no corpses
2) Enemy Flesh Golems are running Verata's Aura
3) Lava

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I currently do have SS but I don't really like the build due to having limited or no healing for yourself. Would the Feast of Corruption skill be useful there? Atleast I would get health if needed .

arcane echo/spiteful spirit/reckless haste does an incessant amount of damage. with a 20/20 curses weapon you really can get away with no echo.

if everything is dead you don't worry about healing.

it's a different post altogether but you're not in the front lines, you're not a warrior, imo the last thing you need to worry about is a selfheal. if your monk sucks that bad tell him.

arcane echo
SS
reckless haste
p bond(there's your self heal....)
inspired hex
power drain
leech sig
res

16 curses
10 soul reaping
9 inspiration

leech sig's cooldown sucks but it's worthy for the skill interrupt. you can bring cry but it's a high price.

I usually run a different build:

N/Me: SS + Battery

SS
Parasitic Bond (wonderful self-heal)
Life Siphon
Vampiric Gaze
Blood Ritual
Blood Renewal
Signet of Capture/Mark of Subversion/Leech Signet
Rez Signet

Soul Reaping: 3 + scar + minor rune
Curses: 12
Blood: 12

If you have runes, use them. This gives you damage to the enemy, healing for yourself, and multiple uses (interupt 1 every 45 seconds , SS, Battery, friendly companion. )

I ran bloodspike the first time I was there... I'd do it again, too. I was a support N/Mo healer at the same time - L18 Well of Blood from Awaken the Blood will shine for you here (22s of regen 7 = 300+ heal), and a copy of Heal Party won't go a miss... lets not forget Extinguish exists now too If you had a MM with you, I suppose you could try Dwayna's Sorrow on the minions...

How about... and this is pretty much a pure necro

16 Blood (+2 with AtB, +1 offhand focus, -> up to 19 Blood)
13 Soul Reaping

1.Lifebane Strike
2.Shadow Strike
3.Plague Touch (or Sending if feeling brave/reckless)
4.Blood Drinker
5.(elite) - Well of Power, Offering of Blood, something else...
6.Well of Blood
7.Awaken the Blood
8.(/Mo or /Rt rez of your choosing)

It's pretty easy really... call target, strike, strike, drink every 8s. Carpet the place with bloodwells (you can also deny the Flesh Golems corpses with WoB, keep that in mind as they like to make little walking bombs out of them). Keep AtB up. Kite a lot. You should be pretty self-sustaining as long as you stay awake out there.

Soul Leech will help a ton as your elite if you can cap it in Abaddon's Mouth, especially when you meet Wila the Unpleasant. 93 damage lifesteals on all those casters are really nice, especially the elementalists

A Dom mesmer will make your life so much easier too. Cry of Frustration for packs of enemies, Power Return against the various Meteor Shower spamming mobs, Shatter Hex for the hordes of hexer mobs, Diversion/Blackout for the bosses, etc etc. Mantras/Resists for defence. They really are golden for damage prevention. Not bad damage from cry/shatter/backfire either. Oh, and fast cast Ressurection Chant if you need it!

except that hexes last half as long on bosses. 10 second duration to 5 with a 15 second cool down isn't so hot.
at least with SS, the duration is 18 seconds with a 10 second cooldown. if the hex lasts 9 seconds on a boss, ss will be ready for you just after it ends.

Go ahead tell yourself that a 72 health steal is good damage. Its easy to do more with skills that aren't armor resistent or there is no armor against them. The only way its worth it is if you have soul leech and thats in abbadon's so you wouldn't do the whole island with it.

It cost too much energy to do low damage IMO blood spike is not for later pve as it does damage to a single target (with a few exceptions) and that damage is still unsufficient.

The damage isn't awesome, but it's lifesteal.

Vamp Gaze does approximately 136hp of totally unblockable, armor-ignoring damage+self-heal.

Shadow Strike figures at 165hp exchanged.

Regarding energy, drop Awaken in favor of Cultist's Fervor. Want AoE? Try Oppressive Gaze. Throw in Arcane Echo and Enfeebling Blood for extra fun.

Enfeebling Blood
Cultist's Fervor
Arcane Echo
Oppressive Gaze

This yields 165hp per enemy every 3.5 seconds...Shadow Damage and Life Stealing...for 8 energy.
